Studio von Kalinowski Design applies a holistic approach to the design of the home. Our focus is of the whole dwelling - design that creates and integrates each element and detail of architecture, interior architecture/ design, and landscape design features for one flowing design of continuity and integrity.
Each project is initiated by understanding the client's needs and its application. Through engaged table discussions, we create a specific concept that reflects the applicable location, the site's attributes, the client's program of spatial requirements, budget, and character. Each project is a journey of creativity, innovation, and realization.

OUR TEAM
Studio von Kalinowski Design is an award winning and unique collaboration between a husband + wife team of designer -architect and builder -craftsman, each with over 35 years of experience. We have integrated our diverse expertise and disciplines to provide whole dwelling design solutions from site analysis thru complete project completion. Mark and Wendy first worked together in1993 and after many successful team projects, created their business partnership in 2006.

Wendy von Kalinowski , A.I A. ,LEED AP, is a multidisciplinary designer and architect( Lic CA) with over 35 years experience in the design industry including corporate design, healthcare design, hospitality design (Europe),exhibit design, as well as teaching design in Switzerland and San Diego. She has received design awards for both her custom residences and dynamic kitchen designs. Wendy has worked in California, Oregon and Europe.

Mark Smeltzer is a master craftsman and builder, having managed and built an elite selection of custom homes in San Diego, California. Mark has over 36 years experience in the construction industry, and holds a CCB license as Smeltzer General Contracting,LLC in Oregon. He is also a Sustainable Building Advisor. Mark's extensive knowledge and experience of building and management provide a seamless and time efficient transition from design to construction.
